We announce a competition for the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Image Processing at the NASK Centre for Research and Development.

Department of Image Processing conducts research on machine intelligence algorithms, with a particular focus on deep learning methods that find application in image analysis. The Department also designs computer systems using machine intelligence mechanisms for signal and image processing.

We are looking for an ambitious and committed researcher with extensive research experience in the area of image processing, biometrics, and deep learning, supported by a strong publication record. In the position, the candidate will participate in the implementation and development of image analysis and biometric identity recognition systems, conduct research on deep learning algorithms, computer vision techniques, and develop software tools for data detection, classification, and annotation.

Tasks:

  1. Implementation of image analysis solutions and the development of biometric systems.
  2. Conducting scientific research, particularly in the areas of computer vision, deep learning, and biometrics.
  3. Preparing scientific papers.
  4. Participating in conferences and industry meetings, popularizing the results of the work and research of the department.
  5. Providing other departments of the NASK Research and Development Center with substantive support in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning, biometrics beyond known best practices, and collaborating on projects covering the mentioned topics.

Requirements:

  • Possession of at least a Master's or Master's degree in the discipline of computer and information sciences, information and communication technology or a related discipline, and a doctoral degree in the discipline of information and communication technology or a related discipline;
  • Documented scientific achievements (publications in national and international journals, conference presentations, participation in scientific and R&D projects) in the discipline of information and communication technology;
  • At least 3 years' experience in research and development in computer vision;
  • Recognized competence in at least one of the following areas: deep learning/AI, image processing, biometrics;
  • Programming skills in Python, knowledge of ML libraries (including for neural network design, e.g. PyTorch) and willingness to learn other computer vision tools;
  • Good knowledge of Linux (usage, elementary administration);
  • Fluency in Polish and knowledge of English at a minimum C1 level;
  • Ability to create documents and presentations in LaTeX and office packages and materials promoting scientific achievements.

Applications delivered after this deadline will not be considered, but the deadline is considered to have been met if the offer has been posted at the postal operator's office or submitted at the Institute's headquarters before the deadline.
